Windows Defender is the best free Antivirus for Windows OS. Avast is also good for PC. But I will recommend you must compare the top Antivirus. What about AVAST? Not my favorite but I think it gets decent reviews. I had a paid McAfee and Malware bytes running, PC wasn’t allowing.

Malwarebyte’s Anti-malware is a given for on-demand scanning. The free (non-pro) version does very well for scheduled or on-demand scanning and has been one of the top free security tools available for quite a long time now. i was researching this too and found this list which shows which antivirus have the most ‘mentions’ on reddit ‘Panda Antivirus’ was mentioned in 37, times on reddit, Avast was mentioned 33, time, avira pro was mentioned 11, times. I ended up getting panda and it’s pretty good so far, they don’t spam you with offers to upgrade to premium. Kaspersky free is definitely good enough if you are looking for basic protection, Kaspersky doesnt charge extra for anti ransomware etc the paid for version just comes with more features that allow you to shrink your attack surface and harden your phone with certain controls. Defender is not a great AV from a detection point of view, 1. level 1.
