You have a a click to run installation. In theory CTR may be an “improvement”, in practice it has been proving to just be another layer of software to break.

And it does, as you have experienced. The download process automatically distributes CTR if your connection is “fast enought”. But if you know the magic incantation you can get a “normal” installation file. Since you have to reinstall anyway, now is a good time to switch back, if you want.
